Howard on Hiatus
I am looking for a new direction for Howard. My thoughts are these and I am soliciting comments and suggestions:
1. Romance:
a. Howard proposes to Brenda Starr.
b. Howard dumps Brenda Starr and starts an affair with Becky’s mom.
c. Howard dumps Brenda Starr and starts a romance with one of the gay characters.
2. Howard has somehow been altered by Lynn Johnston. He is now a:
a. Teenage boy
b. Teenage girl
c. Dog
d. Cat
e. Rabbit
f. Old man
g. Old woman
h. A man with a beard
i. Some other bizarre or unusual thing
3. Job:
a. Howard is back at Mayes restaurant
b. Howard starts work at Portrait magazine
c. Howard works with Marjee Mahaha.
d. Something else.

Imagine this. Becky finds Howard and he's a talking dog and he lives with Becky for a time. Not a permanent thing. The Professor character could whip something up to fix him back to Howard. Interested?

I would love to do a romance with you. Candace is definitely a possibility. From the strips, it is obvious Rudy is interested in marrying Candace, but she is only interested in dating him. There was a sequence after Candace's aunt was attacked, where Rudy said he knew Candace was the one for him. Candace snark has not really been explored in the ARB, so there are things that could be done there.
Fiona Brass romance would be a hoot though. Just the thought of that makes me laugh.
Let's see if I got it.
Howard comes back as a talking dog that only Becky can hear. I should mention that he can type, but with some difficulty. After we drain all the jokes out of that situation, then Howard is transformed back to human.
Howard proposes to Brenda, but she leaves him on the altar. schmoosie gets to write a killer ending to the Howard / Brenda relationship and gets rid of Brenda (if Brenda will let her.)
Howard becomes friends with Candace (posted by qnjones)
Howard romances Fiona Brass (posted indirectly from Howard).
Howard romances Beatrice Alfarero (?).
No true love.

Random thought about Howard and romance. I've got this vision of Lawrence and Nick holding a meeting of the Milborough LGBT community and declaring that for a gay man, Howard is having far too many heterosexual dalliances, and that he'd better date a man for a while if he wants to retain his membership privileges. Then maybe he could have a fling with Eliot-Everett "Morsel" Callahan to not jeopardize his standing, especially with the Light Opera.
I now feel bad that I had April pushing Howard to recount the conversation Elly had about her meeting with Mrs. Lake, in light of your "overheard conversation" fatigue.

Eliot-Everett "Morsel" Callahan could be fun. Lots of "dude" dialogue.

I don't know any Fiona history except what is on the website. From that it appears she is a spinster.
Per your suggestion, I will write up something about Lynn and the dog story on your livejournal in comments. I will leave it up to how much of the story you want to tell at any particular time and I encourage you to put as many Becky-isms into her retelling of it as you can.
