A Dream Come True

I had seen a number of predictions about the things coming in the upcoming wedding between Elizabeth and Anthony, usually intended as jokes, but with a hint of truth to them. Then when the wedding preparation started, and the tasks were being given out to be accomplished, I began to think that maybe, only Lawrence Poirier and Gramma Marian were giving a part of the wedding for free. Then along comes today's For Better or For Worse and in literally 2 panels of Elly spelling out wedding details, we get almost all of those predictions. April's sings. Michael does a speech. Mike's a groomsman. The formal wear is for free, thanks to Anthony's uncle. All those jokes we snarkers have made have come true.

howard,

This is all part of Lynn's plan to make Mira and Shawna-Marie's mother look bad. Elly wlll be the picture of calm this August so that rival mothers may look like bullying fools stressing over nothing.

Ugh, I need some suggestions. The supposed August 23 date gives me a dilemma I explain at the Meta-Blog. Please help!

It figures Anthony has a magic uncle who's just pleased as punch to "supply" formal wear for the special, magical couple. God forbid Anthony should have to open his wallet.

Another "dream come true" - the strip has returned to the Detroit Free Press. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080728/FEATURES01/807280338

April Katje -- perhaps April is able to guess what's going to happen because the wedding will be so boring, vanilla, glurgey, and predictable? Heck, I bet you could write the ARB entries right now and still get over half of it right.

Also, perhaps Liz has saddled April with duties as the wedding planner (manager?) in addition to music and bridesmaid. Somebody has to keep track of what's happening where, so they can later write all the thank-you notes for the free stuff and help.

Thanks, ellie--that's pretty much the direction I'm leaning towards. :)

Wow. Just wow. I can't believe what Lynn is doing---either she is purposely ridiculing her adoring public, or she is such a complete hack that she is %100 percent incapable of writing a realistic story anymore.

Gee, glad to know that Liz has everything up until the "I do's" handed to her on a silver platter and we can see what a "thrifty" little group the Pattersons are. Oh wait; even her life after the ceremony is given to her--daughter, house, blessings of everyone wide and far for finally snagging that great catch.

Correct me, but isn't this pathetic that such "big-shots" in the community are given so much, particularly for a wedding? (there's a point where too many gifts comes off as looking REALLY bad).

Several things stuck out all the glurge it took me a few minutes to get past Anthony's "magic uncle". Nothing amused me more then hearing that April will be singing at the wedding because this leads to the possibility of another Lynn composed song about love no less! The part of the strip that really irked me was Elly blubering about how she's utterly failed to keep Grandpa Jim up to date with recent family happenings. As we all should know by now whining and shrieking is a full time job in Millborogh but in the real world crap like that just wouldn't fly.

The more I read this strip the more I wonder if Lynn ever had any creativity. Not only do her fans constantly and consistently predict everything that goes down in the strip, we predict it in the same way. Most people would hear of a wedding and think, "I know how she'll do it. She'll hire a DJ, buy a dress, buy flowers, etc." But Lynn's fans know that friends of the family will miraculously provide everything. If I were Lynn and I read this I would try to throw my fans off, because this is just stale. She's either too lazy to actually try something new or two out of touch to even know that this blog, and many of her fans, have been predicting practically everything that happens in the strip for YEARS.

Remember: it's evil to have a big fancy wedding if you pay for it yourself. If you guilt people you know into giving you stuff for free, and let them bear the cost, then it's totally awesome!

Back to the Free Press article (see above). Did this surprise anyone?
"The main Free Press gripe? A little bit financial, a little bit fairness. Johnston was offering retro-repeats along with the wedding story at original strip prices."
I don't know why I was surprised...

Does anyone else think it's creepy that Elizabeth and Anthony's wedding date is the same date as his first wedding to Therese?
