Telethon for Retarded People
After the band or Luis Guzmán in particular turned against April during the last time we visited the Telethon storyline in For Better or For Worse. I was pretty sure April was going to either have to eat some humble pie about Gerald, or the band was going to have to be the brunt of April’s ire and break April from the band completely. So, to have Shannon Lake come up and mention the telethon is for that most holy of causes, the Special Needs kids, is a plotline well on its way to make a reverse of April’s opinion of at least Gerald and possibly Becky too. I also, secretly hope that Jeremy Jones will make an appearance, but I honestly don’t see how that is possible, considering the blame Jeremy has received by name in the strip.
Saturday evening, my wife and I traveled to Phoenix to go see a comedienne my wife adores, Kathy Griffin. She has a bit in her routine where she talks about how certain organizations ask her to perform but provide a list of rules about language and sometimes one of the rules is not to refer to anyone by the word retarded. Kathy went on a riff about how Paris Hilton is retarded and then presented a series of very funny proofs, which were actually fairly convincing. Of course, I thought of Shannon Lake, and her main grievance against other people is the “retarded” reference. If Kathy Griffin were in the FOOBiverse, there would be new villainess in town.

Ooh, you're so lucky--I love Kathy Griffin. I've just started getting into her Life on the D-List on Bravo. :)
I agree--now that the telethon has been anointed by Shannon, with the special-needs seal of approval, we get to see Apes way on the wrong side of her Rebbeca[h]/Gerald grievance (at least this particular one).
Kathy Griffin is very good. 1 hour and 50 minutes of solid talking.
As for April and Gerald, I think the fact she still calls him boyfriend, after having taken actions that for most teenaged girls would be the end of the relationship, (and in particular because Shannon Lake seems unconcerned), tells me a Gerald / April reconciliation is at hand.
As for Becky, she has reconciled with her so many times, only to turn around and hate her again, she could do that again, after humiliating her one more time. Lynn seems to be in to repeating plots she just recently resolved, like the Warren Blackwood thing, for example. She might be up for a Gym/Jam redux.
I agree about the likelihood of a Gerald/April reconciliation. I guess we'll have some retconning to do.

I have already set up that Becky and Gerald could be faking a relationship for a Newlyfoobs joke on April (April gets Foobed?), but that would probably play as April realizing she has overreacted to Gerald playing drums for Becky.
I don't see April apologizing to Gerald at all. Pattersons do not apologize, ever, that I can think of. I could see a humble, broken Gerald begging for forgiveness and being granted it by April, which wouldn't work that well with a Newlyfoobs prank.
I think retconning would depend on how Lynn decides to play them getting back together.
